Patriotic Parades and Events

Patriotic parades and events highlight the calendar of the Tucson Chapter, NSDAR. The chapter works as a team with the Southern Arizona Sons of the American Revolution and the Kachina Society, National Society of the Children of the American Revolution, to present a strong and unified presence.

The Tucson Chapter, NSDAR, participates in the Independence and Veterans Day parades, Memorial Day services, and Wreaths Across America.

Many of our members dress in period clothing and proudly carry the historic American flags throughout the parade.

Service to Veterans

Tucson Chapter, NSDAR, is proud of our veterans.  Each year our chapter sponsors veterans participating in Honor Flight Southern Arizona.  These men and women fought in our national effort to keep America safe.  We thank them for a job well done and pledge to never forget their service.

Our largest chapter activity is helping veterans in the community. We support the Tucson Veterans Administration Hospital and outpatient clinics with monetary donations, quilts, afghans, blankets, fidget quilts, books, clothing, hats and any items that are needed. We also provide light snacks and drinks for veterans attending Memorial Services. At the Fisher House members cook weekly meals, provide needed supplies, decorate for the holidays and volunteer during their annual birthday celebration. We sponsor local veterans for the Honor Flight Southern Arizona and participate in the send-off and landing celebration. We honor our veterans on Memorial Day by placing flags at veterans’ grave sites and attending Memorial Day Services at local cemeteries.

Flag Box

On June 14, 2015, the Tucson Chapter, NSDAR, celebrated Flag Day by donating the community’s first flag box for the deposit of worn and tattered flags. The receptacle resembles a postal box painted bright red with the words “Flags Only” and “Tucson Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution” displayed. It resides at the Murphy-Wilmot Public Library.

As of December 2022, our chapter has collected over 1,000 American flags to be properly retired.

Constitution Week

The U. S. Constitution was approved by the Constitutional Convention on September 17, 1787. Every year we celebrate this amazing document by creating displays throughout the community. They are seen in public libraries, churches, school libraries and classrooms. Each year Tucson’s mayor signs a proclamation setting aside September 17-23 as Constitution Week. We are proud to foster this patriotic education in our community.
