Who is Eligible to Join DAR?
Patriots are not only soldiers! Anyone who supported the cause for American independence between April 19, 1775 and November 26, 1783 was a patriot. This could be someone who gave aid to the cause, signed an oath of allegiance, provided supplies, or served in a civil or military capacity. See the Accepted Revolutionary War Service page for a complete list. So regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot is eligible for membership.
